Meeting with politicians
June 2023
Invitation to the BMVg
In June 2023, we spoke with the PTSD commissioner, General Surgeon Dr. Ahrens, in a meeting lasting several hours.
The reason for this was our list of demands, the content of which includes suggestions for improvements to better care for combat veterans and their families, including an adjustment/expansion of the Deployment Re-employment Act, so that former professional soldiers who have voluntarily left the service can also begin their medical and/or professional rehabilitation under the protection and social security of their employer.

A brief conversation with Minister Boris Pistorius; a brief outline of our personal concerns in a letter, a presentation of the list of demands with numerous case studies of inadequate and inadequate care for combat veterans and their families, and a presentation of the project portfolio.

Bundestag- vote on national veterans day-
National Veterans Day is coming! June 15th of each year. What a development. Thank you to all our fellow campaigners, pioneers, and the Veterans Policy Working Group. For us as an association, in addition to the introduction of the day, it is of crucial importance that the care, appreciation, and recognition of the families and relatives of traumatized/operationally injured deployed personnel is observed and, above all, improved. Because much more depends on this decision than just one day in June; care will be improved, bureaucracy reduced, and families included and protected. Career soldiers who resigned due to despair and illness will in future also be included in the EinsWVG and can return to the Bundeswehr and then begin their healing with care and security. For me, as the wife of a combat veteran and former career soldier who has fought for support and help for many years, this is a moving moment in which my husband and I place great hope.
Dear politicians in the German Bundestag, thank you for this decision, but please don't disappoint the veterans and their families/relatives. Continue to work together, regardless of party interests. Thank you!

Benefit concert for Danish veterans in Holmens Church in Copenhagen
It was with great joy and gratitude that ATEKeV participated in the aforementioned benefit concert, followed by a tribute to two veterans. Invited on behalf of the Military Attaché Staff of the German Embassy and the Danish Veterans Association, as well as the Kiel Naval Music Corps and the Royal Life Guards Band, we were privileged to be present at this first-class spring evening in Copenhagen.
I am extremely grateful for this invitation, the good conversations, and above all for this unforgettable evening.
June 2025 I thank you for the personal invitation and am extremely pleased to be able to participate.
It is an honor and a pleasure for me.

Closing event/panel discussion
"Serving Germany?" - 70 Years of the Bundeswehr: Profession or Vocation
The perception of the profession of "soldier in the Bundeswehr" has changed significantly in Germany over the past 70 years. This change is closely linked to the political, social, and security policy developments of the Federal Republic of Germany. Currently, public attitudes toward the military profession seem to fluctuate between marked skepticism and pragmatic acceptance. While the Bundeswehr is now recognized as a necessary element of security policy, public identification with the military profession remains limited—especially compared to other countries with a strong military culture, such as the United States or France. In this panel discussion, we aim to highlight various perspectives from within and outside the Bundeswehr.
